Futurion
Futurion items and equipment · Silent loop.
Sci-fi survival sandbox with a strong focus on collecting mounts.
Gameplay clips
Craft and customize robotic animals that aid in exploration and combat. Use their unique abilities to adapt to challenges, survive and mine essential materials across the artificial planet’s diverse landscapes.
Your mobile base, a giant walking creature, serves as a moving headquarters as you explore new terrain.
The game
A complex automated crafting system with production chains and small robots that carry resources between storage and crafting stations.
A massive travelling base that moves through an open world, seamlessly loading scenes as players travel — you can craft and do everything else while the base is in motion.
A distinct stylized art style where most models share textures to keep performance high, built on a modular design philosophy for flexible, efficient content creation.
Thanks to heavy use of plugins and placeholders, the game was fully playable from the very first week of development, which allowed early testing and rapid iteration.
My contribution
- Five-month experiment. Led a five-person team through a fast, playable-first development cycle. The project was ultimately suspended.
- Core mechanics. Designed and implemented core gameplay systems, including shark movement and the automated factory system.
- Game & art direction. Directed the project with emphasis on its unique selling points: an eye-catching visual style, the flying shark mount, and the giant turtle base travel.
- Tech art — rendering, shaders, lighting, materials & textures. Although the environment started with a purchased asset pack, I replaced all materials and textures. I carefully adjusted the painted textures to create the anime sci-fi style, and made all environment art and level design myself. I also adapted and optimised models for better rendering performance. I made custom colliders with editor tools and placed them by hand using snapping tools I built, which made it possible to place around 15,000 colliders in a few days.
