Hello Engineer
Surface-aware particle effects in Hello Engineer · Silent loop.
Multiplayer physics-based construction sandbox set in the Hello Neighbor universe.
The game
Players build and control custom vehicles and machines out of advanced parts — engines, wheels, electrical circuits and more.
Combining real-time physics with multiplayer presented major technical challenges.
The project was deeply integrated with the Hello Neighbor franchise lore, connecting to three other games and a cartoon series in development.
My contribution
- Design leadership. Led the design team and coordinated its work with engineering, art, narrative, QA and publishing.
- Physics systems. Designed core gameplay mechanics and physics systems, including wheel physics and drifting behaviour, and surface-dependent particle effects.
- In-house tools. Developed and iterated on tools for rapid prototyping of physics-based parts and vehicle combinations.
- Lore integration. Collaborated on franchise lore — shaping symbolic vehicle designs and environmental storytelling elements.
